CANADIAN CATHOLIC STUDENTS ASSOCIATION
Learn more about the CCSA
The Canadian Catholic Students Association (CCSA) is the national association representing all Catholic students on campuses in Canada. Founded in 1946 as the Canadian Newman Movement, CCSA’s core purpose is to unite students who witness to the Gospel on campus. CCSA helps form, support, and network Catholic student communities and represents them at national and international levels: Catholic, Ecumenical and Interfaith.
Catholic students gather in annual conferences, alternating meeting regionally and nationally. This year’s National conference will be held in Montreal from January 30 to February 2, 2025, hosted by Newman McGill.
The CCSA is a proud member of the International Movement of Catholic Students
Our Leadership Team
To facilitate communication between campuses, each campus’s Catholic student community identifies a representative who acts as the liaison between their campus and the national CCSA executive (campus rep). Campuses send representatives to the annual conference (alternates regional and national) where the new executive is elected to serve for a year. Two members are elected from each region. In the absence of a campus rep, communications are sent to the campus minister. The executive is advised by one or two campus ministers representing the Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry (CCCM). The 2025 CCSA executive members are:

Hi, my name is Roman Lalach. I’m one of the representatives for the CCSA from the Western region. I am a second year biomedical sciences student at the University of Saskatchewan. I am a Byzantine Ukrainian Catholic, which is one of the Eastern churches of the Catholic Church. Gabriella Giorgi
My name is Gabriella Giorgi. I'm currently a second-year student at McGill University in Montreal. I study English literature with a minor concentration in environmental studies. At McGill, I am the VP of Communications of our Newman Catholic Students' Society, as well as an executive for a few other clubs, including a piano teaching organization and motionballU, which raises money for the Special Olympics. I love all things English and music and spend my time at our Newman Centre practicing piano. I hope this year the CCSA can make Catholic students at all universities in Canada feel connected throughout the year.

Fayssal Fabrice Savadogo

Stephanie Bell
Hello! I am thrilled to be joining the CCSA this year. As a first-year student at Saint Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., I am pursuing a double major in Psychology and Great Books. My faith journey is deeply enriched by our vibrant campus ministry, where I cherish weekly community lunches, summit nights, lectures and strong sense of fellowship. I am passionate about bringing others into the faith and hearing the beautiful, unique journeys of other young Catholics. Outside of academics, I love theatre, singing karaoke with my sisters, reading and being immersed in nature! With a curious mind and enthusiastic heart, I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure with the CCSA! God bless!
